[TuT] Peel-Off Ads

Source: YORGOO

This tutorial will show you how to add a peel-off ad to your page.

1. Download the script we will be using [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] (Direct Link).

2. Unzip and open the downloaded folder; you see now your 'unzipped' folder:

3. Open the folder 'peel', doubleclick on the file bodypaste.txt to edit it:

4. Modify the script line by replacing 'yorgoo.com' with your own domain name:

5. Copy/paste the modified script into your home page just before the closing body tag ,<body>

(you do this by editing your home page: open SmartFTP, find your home page (index.htm or index.html for example); right-click on the home page and select 'Edit'. When the script opens just paste, then save and upload.)

6. Edit the file : peel.js ( double-click on it to edit it with a text editor):

You need to replace 5 links:

- the target link: that's where visitors who click on the ad will be redirected to

- the 4 links referring to the file locations on your domain: just replace again with your domain name.Af

After modification: save the File.

7. Open the folder called 'images': you see the different samples.

Edit your ad with GIMP or Photoshop or similar: use big2.png for editing and save thereafter as 'big.gif'

[ in the peel.js the name of the picture is specified as 'big.gif' , so either you name your ad image big.gif or you change the name in peel.js.]

8. Once you have edited and saved your image as big.gif, upload the whole folder 'peel' to your domain root folder. This can be public_html on your server or if you are using an add-on domain, just load it into the main folder of your domain.

Fire up your browser and enjoy the result!

It would be quite easy to do that, I think you'd be able to edit the vBulletin source.
